In recent years, and especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, issues related to health, caregiving, and family structures have taken on increasing prominence on the public agenda, giving rise to tensions and disputes. Concern, anger, and scandals. Heated discussions where diametrically opposed positions are presented and perspectives are constructed that pit moral principles against one another among different groups in society. In this section, we examine the debates surrounding the beginning and end of life, decisions regarding vaccination, and how families assume various caregiving responsibilities (including for their non-human members). We bring together the voices of families, the opinions of scientists and specialists, as well as religious and political leaders.
